Balboa dance in Russia

Balboa is pair swing dance, which was born and became popular in 20-40th in USA. Since then this dance had nearly disappeared and later revived due to enthusiasts’ efforts. They started communicating with those who had been young dancers of swing era, and managed to reconstruct technique and the spirit of Balboa, so that the dance has gradually gained numerous fans all over the world, including Russia. During a long history of its existence Balboa has been appended with many new elements not practiced by the old-timers, and this didn’t spoil the dance, but, on the contrary, enriched it.

Balboa was and remains one of so-called social dances, based on an improvising. This means that it won’t be a problem for you to dance with an unknown partner after receiving leading/following skills during the lessons. The lessons themselves are being conducted with a constant partner rotation, so there’s no need to come with your own partner. And about age or physical limitations, we can just advise to look at the old-timers, who’s grandkids are grown-ups already, to forget about any limits. All we need for a dance are sliding shoes, nice floor and good mood.
